Connemara Marble was formed over 500 million years ago and is unique to the region of Connemara, County Galway in Western Ireland where it is mined in quarries which underlie the 12 Ben mountains.  This marble is formed of interlocking bands of serpentine in varying shades of light and dark green from light to dark . It has been used as a stone of exchange and in the making of fixtures for stately buildings and is valued for its beautiful colour and resilience. No two pieces are alike.

For many generations, Connemara marble has been used as a traditional gift of friendship between families.  This gem is often carried as a worry stone, to bring inner peace, serenity and self control and to ensure good luck in undertakings.

Fishermen would carry it with them while out at sea to ensure success in their undertakings and a safe return. It is also given as a gift to remind people of Celtic origins and of their homeland, though they may travel or live overseas. A precious and magical gem to carry with them always.

Connemara marble is a healing gem for the heart and emotions, encouraging good  relationships and bringing light heartedness. It  is a wonderful stone for exam nerves, for self control, stability and common sense in all emotional and domestic matters. Worn as a pendant, it is said to protect one from lethargy, to enhance intuition and guard against danger. It can also be used to help in the treatment of headaches, unstable blood pressure, colds and inflammation, to benefit kidneys and strengthen the nervous system.
